Physical and Mental Health

Physical and Mental Health

The Upper Valley Trails Alliance strongly advocates for outdoor recreation and trail use as a means of ensuring healthy communities. Not only does outdoor recreation have excellent benefits for physical health but provides tremendous benefits for mental health as well. With this in mind, the Upper Valley Trails Alliance supports the health and wellness of our towns through:

Our Programs

The Passport to Winter Fun Program is a fitness incentive program to keep elementary age students (K-6) outdoors and physically active during winter.
The Upper Valley High School Trail Corps program and our Summer Trail Stewards program connect participants to the outdoors by learning to build trails with the UVTA team.

Our Projects

UVTA works on trails all over the Upper Valley and we rely on our volunteers, trail corps participants and Alliance members to get the work done. Our trail projects connect people to their communities and each other.

Our Events

UVTA’s annual events, the UVTA Skate-a-Thon, STOAKED Trail Race and the UVTA Tour de Taste, are focused on connecting attendees to trails and outdoor recreation. Whether it be on the longest ice skating trail in the United States or enjoying samples of food on a scenic bike ride, our events connect people to the gorgeous New England scenery.
