American Hiking Society’s National Trails Endowment

This fund provides supports to trail organizations in building trails, improving existing trails, securing land for future trails, and increasing the constituency for a specific trail project. Guy Waterman Alpine Stewardship Fund

The Guy Waterman AlpineStewardship Fund's objective is to strengthen the human stewardship of the open summits, exposed ridgelines, and alpine areas of the Northeast. The fund annually awards grants between $1,000 and $5,000 to nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies responsible for these areas. Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) Grants

Provides Conservation Grants that mobilize communities to support, advocate, and influence public policy to protect and increase opportunities for recreation on public lands and water. Vermont’s Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant Program

This Federal fund has provided over 100 Vermont communities and state agencies with more than $26,000,000 towards the acquisition, conservation, and development of outdoor recreation areas and facilities. Vermont Watershed Grants

These grants are funded by the sales of Vermont’s Conservation License Plates and are for a many different water-related projects which include developing and enhancing recreational access and trails. Grants range from $200-1,000, larger grants available also. Deadline is in November.
