Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for you interest in volunteering to help trails in the Upper Valley. There are many ways you can help! From helping out at one of the Upper Valley Trails Alliance’s annual events to collecting trail data, UVTA offers a variety of opportunities to match your talents and interests.

Collect Trail Data

Become a trained Trail Surveyor! UVTA is expanding its online database of trail information with an exciting project called Trail Finder. Volunteers are needed to help:

  • Collect trail data using a GPS
  • Take trail photos
  • Write trail notes

Build and Maintain Trails

Do you know a pick mattock from a grubbing hoe? Want to learn the difference? Volunteer with UVTA to help build and maintain trails. Opportunities are offered throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help:

  • Use tools and machines
  • Clear trails
  • Monitor trails

Tour de Taste Event

Held every September, the Tour de Taste takes 400+ participants on a delicious ride as they peddle from one scenic tasting station to the next. Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • Registration
  • Food stations
  • Parking
  • Bike Mechanics
  • Sign set-up
  • ...and more!

Lake Morey Skate-A-Thon Event

Each January, skaters of all ages and abilities gather to support America’s longest ice trail– the 4-mile Lake Morey loop maintained by UVTA. Participants get a chance to try Nordic Skating and earn chances to win fantastic raffle prizes. Volunteers are needed to help with:

  • Registration
  • Skate fitting
  • Ice safety
  • Sign set-up
  • ...and more!

Other Opportunities

Do you have other talents or skills that you’d like to volunteer? Let us know! If you have experience or interest in a particular area, UVTA could use your help with other activities that support the organization, such as:

  • Grant Writing
  • Graphic Design
  • Data Entry
  • Website/Technology Support
  • Photography
  • Envelope Labeling & Stuffing
  • Tabling at Community Events
